Biography

Peter Zaragoza Mayshle received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a PhD in English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His writing has been supported by a residency at Yaddo. His short stories have appeared in publications across the United States, Philippines, Canada, and the U.K., including 'Flash Fiction International' published by W. Norton. He is a two-time finalist for the David T.K. Wong Fellowship at the University of East Anglia. Born and raised in Manila, he now lives in Pittsburgh. In 2022, he was a finalist for Farrar, Straus & Giroux's inaugural Writer's Fellowship with a novel-in-progress set during the bloody six months of Duterte's presidency. His research interests include the rhetorics of space, public memory, ethnography, and fiction writing.
