Biography

Beginning his career in Victoria’s McPherson Playhouse, Peter McGuire has enjoyed a 40-year professional theatre career that includes stage management, production management, talent management, administration, and directing. He has worked with major regional theatres and held long-term residencies at the National Arts Centre, the Charlottetown Festival, and the Stratford Festival. McGuire has toured regionally, nationally, and internationally, and has also collaborated with the Maybox Group theatres in London’s West End. Additionally, he served as the Associate Conservatory Director at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. Currently, he teaches courses on acting, directing, production management, and theatre survey at the University of Victoria. McGuire is a recipient of the Tyrone Guthrie awards and has directed several productions, including 'Picnic', 'Wild Honey', 'Crimes of the Heart', and 'The Children's Hour'. He holds a Master’s degree in directing from the University of Victoria.
