Dr. Peter Müller Buschbaum

Biography

Professor Peter Müller-Buschbaum holds a professorship in Functional Materials at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Born in 1966, he received his doctorate in physics from the University of Kiel in 1996. He has significant postdoctoral experience, having worked as a fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research and a visiting scientist at esteemed facilities such as the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, France. In 2002, he earned his postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation). He assumed the role of full professor in 2018 and directed the Functional Materials Chair at TUM. Between 2018 and 2023, he served as the scientific director of the Forschungs-Neutronenquelle FRM-II. His involvement in the academic community is further highlighted by his role as a German representative in the European Polymer Federation and as a Deputy Editor for the journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces. Moreover, he leads the Bavarian Key Laboratory TUM.solar, which focuses on renewable energies. He is also a member of the TUM sustainability board beginning in 2024.
