Biography

Dr. Peter Neal is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). With over ten years of experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students, he focuses on developing students’ capacity in design, inquiry, and professional skills. He has more than fifteen years of research experience in the economics of low emission waste-to-x systems, examining how economic conditions and design choices affect project economics. Dr. Neal has collaborated with government and industry bodies on carbon capture and storage (CCS) economics across Australia, Ireland, South-East Asia, and Canada. His contributions include lecturing on CCS Economics and CO2 transport at international short courses and workshops. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UNSW. Dr. Neal has also led significant projects, including postdoctoral work at the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies and has served as a Deputy Head of School, focusing on external relations. His career showcases a commitment to academic governance and advancing educational capacity within the School and Faculty of Engineering.
