Biography

Peter Palensky is a Professor of Intelligent Electrical Power Grids at TU Delft in the Netherlands. He leads the Electric Sustainable Energy department and chairs the Intelligent Electrical Power Grids (IEPG) section and the Delft Energy Initiative. He is also the scientific director of the PowerWeb Institute. His research group focuses on smart electricity systems and the broader scope of intelligent integrated energy systems. Palensky has previously held positions as Principal Scientist for Complex Energy Systems at the Austrian Institute of Technology and as Associate Professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He has been involved with research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California and has contributed to various international committees as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine. He has substantial expertise in complex integrated energy systems, developing methods for their modeling and analysis, which includes hybrid numerical models and opportunities for smart city applications and cyber security. Besides research, he actively teaches courses related to Energy Efficiency at the bachelor's level and the master's program for Intelligent Electrical Power Grids.
