Biography

Dr. Peter Park is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. His expertise encompasses transportation safety and security, with a focus on highways and railways, intelligent transportation systems, transportation planning, and advanced statistical analysis. Prior to joining York University, he was a member of the faculty in the Department of Civil and Geological Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan from 2008 to 2015. Dr. Park brings a rich background of over ten years in national and international consulting as a traffic safety analyst, transportation engineer, and planner. His recent consulting work includes significant contributions to iTRANS Consulting Inc. (now HDR Inc.) in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and the Saskatchewan Government Insurance, where he was involved in numerous traffic safety-related projects. Among his notable projects are the development of a GIS-based hotspot identification system for high collision locations in Regina and Saskatoon, and contributions to the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s Countermeasure Selection Tool “SafetyAnalyst”. Dr. Park has authored and co-authored numerous papers published in prestigious journals and conference proceedings, and has delivered more than 30 technical reports to North American agencies. His research interests include transportation engineering, intelligent transportation systems, road safety, railway safety, transportation security, GIS, and advanced statistical analysis.
