Peter Poullos is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Radiology and the Department of Medicine - Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Stanford University. He graduated with a B.S. from Santa Clara University and earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), he pursued a fellowship in Gastroenterology. However, due to a spinal cord injury, he retrained in Radiology, completing his residency at Stanford and a fellowship in Body Imaging in 2009. His clinical practice focuses on CT, MRI, and ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis, with research interests in radiology of the acute abdomen, hepatobiliary imaging, and colorectal cancer screening. Dr. Poullos is also the Founder and Co-Chair of the Stanford Medicine Alliance for Disability Inclusion & Equity (SMADIE) and serves as a faculty advisor for the Stanford Medical Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illness organization. He has made significant contributions to the disability community through initiatives such as the Stanford Conference on Disability in Healthcare and the “DocsWithDisabilities” podcast. He received the Stanford President’s Award for Excellence in Diversity in 2022.
