Biography

Peter Quesenberry is a Professor of Oncology and Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed his residency at Boston City Hospital, followed by a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at St. Elizabeth's Hospital/Tufts New England Medical Center. His research interests initially centered on cytokine modulation of hematopoiesis and the basic characteristics of bone marrow stem cells, with a particular emphasis on cell cycle status. Quesenberry has extensively studied the effects of endotoxins on hematopoiesis and the impact of extracellular vesicles on cell fate, particularly in relation to tissue restoration after injuries. He has explored the potential of utilizing marrow stem cell injections to counteract refractory acute leukemia and lymphoma by potentially altering the host's response to cancer. Furthermore, his current work aims to characterize salivary extracellular vesicles as biomarkers for sub-concussion brain injury. Throughout his career, Quesenberry has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as the Director of the Center for Stem Cell Biology and previously as the Director of Hematology/Oncology Research.
