Biography

Peter Rabl conducts research in theoretical quantum physics and quantum optics, focusing on the control of coherent quantum systems within solid-state physics, particularly superconducting circuits, nanomechanical resonators, and spin qubits. His research aims to develop new protocols and technologies for applications in quantum information processing and quantum simulation. Rabl's work involves analytical and numerical methods to simulate light-matter interactions, especially in nanophotonic structures operating under ultrastrong coupling regimes. He studied Physics at the University of Innsbruck, completing his PhD in 2006, and has held research positions as an ITAMP Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and as a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In 2011, he was awarded the START Prize and shortly thereafter transitioned to the Vienna University of Technology as an Assistant Professor, where he was appointed as a University Professor in 2021.
