Dr. Peter Robertson

Biography

Peter Robertson is a Professor of Economics at the University of Western Australia and has held several leadership roles, including Dean of the Business School and Head of the Economics Department. He has extensive academic credentials, having received degrees from the University of Otago, University of New England, and Simon Fraser University. His professional journey includes visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions such as the University of Otago, University of British Columbia, Rutgers University, and University of Oxford. His prior employment includes working at the Productivity Commission and the University of New South Wales. As an expert consultant with the Productivity Commission, he also serves on the Australian Research Council College of Experts and the editorial board of several academic journals. Peter’s research interests encompass economic growth, international trade, human capital accumulation, and the economic transformations in East Asia, particularly focusing on countries like China and India. He is involved in several research projects analyzing the impacts of migration, economic performance, and sustainable development goals related to poverty alleviation and environmental conservation.
