Peter Sadler obtained his BA, MA, and DPhil from the University of Oxford. He was a Medical Research Council Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and the National Institute of Medical Research, and served as a Lecturer, Reader, and Professor at Birkbeck College, University of London from 1973 to 1996. From 1996 to 2007, he held the Crum Brown Chair of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and was Director of the Edinburgh Protein Interaction Centre and the EastChem Cancer Research UK Medicinal Chemistry Centre. In June 2007, he became the Chair of Chemistry at the University of Warwick, where he also served as Head of the Department. His research interests include the design of therapeutic metal complexes, photoactivated anticancer drugs, and bioconjugation for medical applications. He applies various techniques, including synchrotron X-ray absorption and fluorescence, NMR spectroscopy, and x-ray crystallography. He has supervised numerous research projects and currently guides a team of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students. Sadler is a Fellow of several prestigious societies, including the Royal Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry, and has received notable awards for his contributions to the field of chemistry.
