Biography

Peter Salovey is the Sterling Professor of Psychology at Yale University, where he also holds secondary appointments in the School of Management, School of Public Health, and the Department of Sociology. He founded and directs the Health, Emotion, and Behavior Laboratory, which has led to the creation of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. His research primarily focuses on the psychological significance and functions of human moods and emotions, as well as the theory and measurement of emotional intelligence. Additionally, he has worked on developing evidence-based programs designed to teach emotional intelligence. Salovey has served as the 23rd president of Yale University, with his presidential term spanning from July 2013 to June 2024.
