Dr. Peter Searson

Biography

Peter Searson is a prominent faculty member at Johns Hopkins University, holding the Joseph R. Lynn C. Reynolds Professorship in the Whiting School of Engineering. He is a specialized researcher in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, with interests that span tissue engineering, biomaterials, and stem cell biology. His work emphasizes the development of in vitro vascular model systems, particularly focusing on the blood-brain barrier and tumor microenvironments. Searson's laboratory employs innovative methodologies, including reverse engineering approaches, to enhance our understanding of neurogenesis and disease progression. Over his distinguished career, he has maintained leadership roles, such as chairing the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and co-founding the Johns Hopkins Institute for NanoBioTechnology.
