Biography

Peter Simpson is a Lecturer (Teaching) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University College London. His focus is on Engineering Design and Industry Engagement, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate modules across BEng, MEng, and MSc programs. With a background in industry, Peter worked as a Technical Consultant at Autodesk for five years following his graduation with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering. His consultancy experience spans a diverse range of projects, including the design of record-breaking electric motorcycles and consumer product design. His expertise in generative design workflows with Autodesk Fusion has allowed him to develop design automation approaches that can significantly enhance product development processes. At UCL, Peter aims to integrate creative design and prototyping into his teaching, empowering students to test their designs in the real world and understand the relationship between form and function. Furthermore, he is involved with UCL Racing teams and UCL MechSpace, contributing as a design advisor to streamline workflows in design and prototyping.
