Biography

Peter Smallidge is a Senior Extension Associate and NYS Extension Forester at Cornell University since June 1996. He coordinates Cornell’s ForestConnect program, which integrates applied research and extension to assist forest owners and maple producers in making informed decisions for sustainable forest management. As Director of Cornell’s Arnot Forest, he oversees initiatives in timber management and maple syrup production. Peter’s active research interests involve the sustainable use of forests, focusing on reducing deer impacts on forest vegetation and ensuring the health of sugarbushes. His extension work includes a monthly webinar series, annual training for CCE educators, and online courses through the Cornell Small Farms Program. David has contributed to various publications related to forest health and management, enhancing the academic and practical understanding of forest ecosystems and resources.
