Dr. Peter Steenkiste

Biography

Peter Steenkiste is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he specializes in high-performance networking and computing. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Ghent University in Belgium in 1982, followed by a Master's and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1983 and 1987, respectively. His research interests encompass a range of areas including network quality of service, network monitoring, pervasive computing, and wireless networking. Currently, he focuses on future internet architecture and wireless networking. Steenkiste has served on various program committees and was the co-chair for significant workshops and conferences such as the OPENSIG'99 workshop and HPDC'2000. He has held editorial positions in prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Grid Computing. He is a member of the ACM and a Fellow of the IEEE.
