Peter Steenkiste is a Professor in the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Electrical Engineering degree from Ghent University in Belgium in 1982, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1983 and 1987, respectively. His research interests span various areas including high-performance networking computing, network Quality of Service (QoS), network monitoring, pervasive computing, and wireless networking. Steenkiste has served in key roles on several program committees, including co-chairing the OPENSIG'99 workshop and the 8th International Workshop on Quality Service (IWQOS'00). He was a program chair for HPDC'2000 and general co-chair for ACM SIGCOMM'02, as well as a program co-chair for MobiCom 2008. He has also been an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, and is currently on the editorial board for the Journal of Grid Computing. His contributions have earned him recognition as a fellow member of ACM and IEEE.
