Biography

Peter Tsvetkov is an Assistant Professor in the PhD Program in Biological Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University. His research focuses on metal homeostasis and metabolic regulation, particularly copper biology and mitochondrial metabolism. The Tsvetkov Lab employs high-throughput chemical-genomic approaches in molecular cell biology to uncover nutrient-related vulnerabilities in cancer diseases. The lab specifically investigates how copper regulates cell death and stress responses, as well as the role of a unique lipid-based post-translational modification known as protein lipoylation in governing mitochondrial function and viability. By developing pharmacologic synthetic strategies to manipulate these pathways, the lab aims to reveal novel biological mechanisms and identify new therapeutic opportunities.
