Peter van Beek is a Professor Emeritus in the Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. He earned his PhD from the University of Waterloo in 1990 and subsequently joined the faculty at the University of Alberta. After a decade, he returned to Waterloo. His research interests span the field of Artificial Intelligence, focusing on representation reasoning, constraint programming, constraint satisfaction, and applied machine learning. He has co-authored seven research papers and received various awards throughout his career. From 2005 to 2009, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Constraints, which is a key forum for research in constraint programming and optimization. Peter is a Fellow of the Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Association (CAIAC), and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA). He is currently accepting new undergraduate research assistants and graduate students for collaboration in his research activities.
