Biography

Peter H. Veltink is a Full Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Biomedical Signals Systems Group in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science. His research focuses on technology restoration of human function, particularly in the fields of biomechatronics, artificial motor control, and neuromodulation, with applications in rehabilitation medicine and biomechanics. He completed his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente in 1984, followed by a Ph.D. in electrical nerve stimulation in 1988. He has held various academic positions including vice-dean of research in EEMCS and has been involved in numerous EU research projects. Prof. Veltink has (co)supervised multiple Ph.D. students and has an H-index of 62. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in scientific editing and organizations such as the IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering. He has received notable awards for his contributions to rehabilitation engineering and holds an adjunct professorship at Northwestern University in Chicago.
