Peter Weinberg won a scholarship to Cambridge, where he read Natural Sciences. He obtained a DIC, MSc, and PhD from Imperial College, focusing on the Physiological Flow Studies Unit. Peter was awarded the Lady Davis Fellowship at the Department of Bioengineering at the Technion in Israel, where he furthered his postdoctoral studies in the Physiological Flow Studies Unit. He was appointed as Lecturer and later Reader at the School of Animal and Microbial Sciences at the University of Reading in 2004. Returning to Imperial College, he became a Reader in the Department of Bioengineering and was appointed Professor of Cardiovascular Mechanics in 2007. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society, an Ordinary Member of the Physiological Society, and a member of the British Atherosclerosis Society. He has served on various committees, including the London Microcirculation Group and the British Society for Cardiovascular Research. Peter founded and served as president of the Bioengineering Society (now known as the Association of Biomedical Engineers, Medical Engineers, and Bioengineers - BioMedEng). He is also an Associate Editor for the journal Atherosclerosis. Currently, he acts as an Academic Line Manager and has been the Departmental lead for the Research Assessment Exercise and the Research Excellence Framework.
