Biography

Peter G. Whang, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Harvard University and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Whang completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by specialized fellowship training in orthopaedic neurosurgical spinal surgery at the Rothman Institute, Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia. His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive surgeries and motion-sparing/nonfusion procedures for spinal care. Dr. Whang's research interests include the biology of spinal fusion, evidence-based medicine, and novel spinal technologies. He is actively involved in the development of new spinal implants and techniques, serving as an investigator for numerous clinical trials. In addition to his research, Dr. Whang is committed to education, teaching fellows, residents, and medical students at Yale. He is also a member of multiple committees at the National Association of Spine Surgeons.
