Biography

Peter K. Yu is a University Distinguished Professor and Regents Professor at Texas A&M University School of Law, where he also serves as the Director of the Center for Law and Intellectual Property. He previously held prominent academic positions at several institutions including the Kern Family Chair in Intellectual Property Law at Drake University Law School and the Wenlan Scholar Chair at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in China. Yu is an internationally recognized expert in intellectual property and communications law. His extensive scholarly contributions include more than 200 law review articles and numerous book chapters; he has authored or edited nine books. Throughout his career, he has served in various significant roles, including Vice-President and Co-Director of the Studies of the American Branch of the International Law Association and General Editor of the WIPO Journal. Yu's research primarily focuses on international intellectual property, international trade, communications policy, and comparative law, especially regarding the transition of legal systems in China and Hong Kong. An award-winning teacher, he is known for his engaging lectures and his commitment to guiding students through the complexities of intellectual property law. Outside of academia, Yu enjoys travel, ethnic food, classical music, and basketball, holding a keen interest in international political history.
