Biography

Peter J. Zed completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed a hospital pharmacy residency at Royal Columbian Hospital and obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1998. He is currently a Professor and Associate Dean of Practice Innovation at UBC's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Zed has a rich background, having previously worked as a pharmacotherapeutic specialist in Emergency Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital and held positions as an associate professor at Dalhousie University. His research interests are primarily focused on pharmacotherapy within emergency medicine and patient safety, specifically regarding adverse drug events. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and presented 80 research abstracts in his academic career. Zed's contributions to teaching and research have been recognized with several awards, including the Dr. Jessie Macknight Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012.
