Biography

Petr Musilek received his Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and his PhD in Technical Cybernetics in 1995 from the Military Technical Academy in Brno, Czech Republic. He was awarded a NATO Science Fellowship in 1997 and worked at the Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1999, he joined the University of Alberta as a professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and later became the Associate Dean of Research Operations in the Faculty of Engineering. Musilek is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta (APEGA) and a Senior Member of IEEE. His research focuses on energy systems, particularly the integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy resources in power systems, and the use of advanced computational methods in these areas. Current projects include energy trading agents, deep neural networks for energy forecasting, and smart energy systems.
