Dr. Petra Fachinger

Biography

Petra Fachinger is a literary comparatist with a focus on contemporary literatures operating within national contexts and languages. Her research is driven by a commitment to social justice, emphasizing Indigenous-settler relations, diaspora studies, and the climate crisis. A passionate reader and language learner, she has engaged with languages including Latin, Spanish, Mandarin, and Anishinaabemowin. Fachinger's research interests encompass Indigenous literatures, contemporary Young Adult literature, Holocaust studies, and diaspora literatures including those of Asian, Muslim, Jewish, and Latin American backgrounds. She has successfully supervised numerous PhD and MA theses, contributing significantly to her field.
