Dr. Petra Rethmann

Biography

Petra Rethmann is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at McMaster University, specializing in cultural anthropology. She is a faculty member of the Cultural Studies & Critical Theory program and is also associated with the Institute for Globalization and the Human Condition. Rethmann has contributed significantly to the field through her authored works, including the book 'Tundra Passages' and as a co-editor of 'Globality: Frictions Connections', which is currently in press. Her research interests focus on social cultural anthropology, drawing from her in-depth academic training. She obtained her Doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from McGill University, her Master of Arts in the same field from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Vienna. Rethmann has published numerous articles in edited volumes and journals, enhancing her profile as a prominent scholar in her discipline.
