Biography

Petros C. Mavroidis is the Edwin B. Parker Professor of Foreign and Comparative Law at Columbia Law School, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. Mavroidis has previously served as a legal adviser in the legal affairs division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) from 1992 to 1995, and as a chief co-rapporteur for the American Law Institute's study on "Principles of International Trade: WTO" in 2013. He has written extensively on international trade law, including ten books and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. His book "Regulation of International Trade" was awarded the 2017 Certificate of Merit for distinguished contribution to the field of international law. His two-volume study meticulously explores WTO agreements regulating trade in goods and services, with the latter volume published by MIT Press in 2020. Mavroidis is affiliated with several prestigious organizations, including the American Law Institute and the American Society of International Law, and serves on various advisory boards. His current research interests include international trade law, the operation and regulation of the WTO, and the intersection of law and global governance.
