Dr. Peyton Hall

Biography

Peyton Hall is a nationally recognized expert in heritage conservation with over 40 years of experience in the field. He has served as the Principal Architect Emeritus at the Historic Resources Group, where he guided the conservation of hundreds of historic landmarks in Southern California. Hall’s expertise encompasses preservation planning, architecture, technology, and historic materials conservation. He has been instrumental in major conservation projects for prominent sites such as the Gamble House, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and the Rose Bowl. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California's School of Architecture, he has significantly impacted the Heritage Conservation Program since 2001, teaching and mentoring hundreds of students. His course, Conservation Methods and Materials, provides practical insights into the conservation of historic structures. Hall has received numerous accolades for his contributions, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Preservation Foundation in 2021. A committed advocate for heritage conservation education, he established a scholarship fund to support students in this field, honoring the legacy of his late mother, Christine Roberts Hall.
