Phaik Yeong Cheah is a professor and bioethicist in Global Health at the University of Oxford. She heads the Bioethics and Engagement team at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) and is known for her work in addressing ethical issues in clinical trials, particularly involving vulnerable populations. Her research focuses on the ethical implications of conducting research with underserved groups, including children, migrants, and refugees. Cheah has a background in Pharmacy and Bioethics, having earned her degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia and participated in Erasmus Mundus. She has also coordinated a multi-centre clinical trial during her PhD studies. In 2022, she was recognized among Asia's influential leaders.
