Dr. Phil Taylor

Biography

Phil Taylor is the founding Head of the Department of Applied BioSciences at Macquarie University, specializing in sustainable economic management of insect pests in horticulture. His research bridges basic and applied science, providing new perspectives and solutions over the past decade, particularly in improving existing tools and developing new methods to control Queensland fruit fly pests in Australia. He focuses on developing a stronger scientific foundation for Sterile Insect Technique programs and creating new lures for the Male Annihilation Technique to detect diverse fruit fly species. With a PhD in Zoology and a Bachelor's in Horticultural Science, Phil possesses a robust academic background that enhances his research in entomology, particularly in pest management.
