Biography

Philip Auslander is a Professor at the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he has been a faculty member since 1987. He holds a PhD in Theatre from Cornell University, earned in 1983, and has extensive teaching experience primarily in Performance Studies and Popular Musicology. His research interests include the intersections of performance, media, gender identity, and the documentation of performance. His work has been recognized with the prestigious Callaway Prize for his contributions to Theatre and Drama. In addition to his academic roles, he has worked as a freelance art writer and has produced film work involving students and faculty. Auslander is also active in the film production unit at Georgia Tech, teaching courses related to acting and performance studies.
