Biography

Philip N. Bartlett received a BA in Chemistry from the University of Oxford in 1978 and was awarded a British Petroleum Scholarship to study for his PhD in Photoelectrochemistry under the supervision of Professor W. John Albery FRS at Imperial College, which he completed in 1981. He was awarded a Research Fellowship from the Royal Society Exhibition in 1851, focusing on modified electrodes at Imperial College. In 1984, he was appointed as a lecturer in Physical Chemistry at the University of Warwick and became a Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Bath in 1991. He joined the University of Southampton in 1993, where he is currently a Professor of Electrochemistry. His research interests lie primarily in Electrochemistry and Bioelectrochemistry, with a specific focus on templated electrodeposition and nanomaterials. Professor Bartlett has received numerous accolades including being elected as a Fellow of the International Society of Electrochemistry in 2006 and a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2012.
