Dr. Philip Bigelow

Biography

Philip Bigelow is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo, with a cross appointment to the School of Planning. His research focuses on interventions in occupational health, particularly the evaluation and measurement of health and safety management systems. He has a keen interest in risk assessment and musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace, along with interventions aimed at improving the health of workers in high-risk industries such as transportation and construction. Notably, he is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of truck drivers, an important aspect of the transportation sector. Beyond his research, Dr. Bigelow teaches courses in occupational health, epidemiology, risk assessment, and program evaluation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, a Master of Health Science in Occupational and Environmental Health from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Calgary.
