Biography

Philip Brown is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Western Australia with an extensive background in accounting and finance. He holds degrees including a Bachelor of Commerce from UNSW, an MBA, and a PhD from the University of Chicago. Throughout his career, Brown has been deeply involved in the academic community, serving as a Senior Honorary Research Fellow and holding visiting professorships at notable institutions such as the University of Chicago and Stanford University. He has received numerous accolades, including being elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and being inducted into the Australian Accounting Hall of Fame. His research primarily focuses on the role of accounting reports in informing financial markets, particularly regarding corporate governance and the influence of disclosure policies on financial analysts and market responses.
