Biography

Philip Clarke is a professor of Health Economics at the University of Oxford. He re-joined the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC) in August 2018. Clarke has previously held academic positions at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health and the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. He is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia (ASSA). His research interests focus on developing methods to assess the value of health benefits and improve access to healthcare, as well as addressing health inequalities through the use of simulation models in health economic evaluation. Notably, Philip has been involved in the development of the UKPDS Outcomes Model, a health economic simulation model specifically for type 2 diabetes.
