Philip Connors, MS, MPH, CGC received his M.S. in Genetic Counseling from Chobanian Avedisian School of Medicine in 2014 and M.P.H. from Boston University School of Public Health with a focus on Health Policy and Law in 2020. He joined the Boston University Genetic Counseling team in 2015, previously working in the Cancer Genetics Prevention Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he counseled patients with various oncologic diagnoses and gained significant expertise in next-generation sequencing technology and gene panel testing. His current research interests center around reproductive justice in genetic testing, the intersection of genetics with public health and policy, as well as ethical considerations in genetics and genetic counseling. At Boston Medical Center, Philip leads the Antenatal Testing Unit, providing reproductive genetic counseling services and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the BU Genetic Counseling Program. He actively works on integrating issues of diversity and justice into the curriculum and the recruitment of future genetic counselors, focusing on holistic and antiracist admissions processes. Philip also engages in research exploring the availability and uptake of prenatal genetic testing options throughout the human lifespan, along with innovative service delivery methods. As a new member of the NSGC Board of Directors and previous Membership Committee participant, he aims to improve recruitment practices within the professional society.
