Professor Philip Crowe is a Surgical Oncologist with a clinical and research interest in soft tissue sarcoma and breast cancer. He practices endocrine surgery, including thyroid, parathyroid, and minimally invasive adrenal surgery, at both public and private hospitals. He serves as the Director of the Sydney Sarcoma Unit and co-director of the Sarcoma Research Group at UNSW, located at the Lowy Cancer Research Centre. He completed his DPhil (PhD) at the Nuffield Department of Surgery at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes scholar, and furthered his training in general surgical training in Toronto, Canada, and fellowships in cancer surgery at the University of Cape Town and Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick. He was appointed Senior Lecturer in Surgery at UNSW in 1992 and became a Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery in 2004. In 2021, he was appointed Head of the Discipline of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW.
