Biography

Philip de Goey is a Full Professor Emeritus in Combustion Technology at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Between 1988 and 1995, he served as an Assistant Professor, followed by a role as Associate Professor from 1995 to 2000 in the section of Energy Technology within the Mechanical Engineering Department at TU/e. Philip is well-known in the field for his numerical and experimental research on laminar flames, turbulent flames, engines, gas turbines, and flame thermo-acoustics. Among his significant contributions is the invention of the Heat Flux Method, a precise technique for measuring adiabatic burning velocities currently utilized by over 12 groups worldwide. He also developed the FGM method, a highly efficient and recognized technique in combustion modeling. Philip advocates for a transition from fossil fuels to sustainable alternatives, including biofuels and solar fuels, emphasizing the need to understand the physical and chemical processes to enhance combustion efficiency. He has served as chairman of the Dutch Section of the Combustion Institute and has been active in various academic and editorial roles, including participation as a scientific committee member for international conferences and authoring over 400 scientific publications.
