Philip Griebel is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Saskatchewan. His research focuses on developmental immunology, comparative immunology, mucosal immunology, innate immunity, and vaccine delivery. He is particularly interested in identifying key genes that regulate innate mucosal immune responses and analyzing how Mycobacterium avium subspecies affects the mucosal immune system. His research also investigates the role of neutrophils in antigen presentation and dendritic cell maturation, alongside the development of vaccines to prevent transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE). Griebel has designed various courses, including Public Health Biology, Vaccines and Immunotherapeutics, and Mucosal Immunology. He has been successful in securing grants to support his investigations, including a major project funded by NSERC to explore the microbiome's impact on early development of the mucosal immune system.
