Biography

Philip is an experienced product manager who has spent his career at the intersection of innovation practices, human-centered design, and technology product development. An active alumnus of the Integrated Innovation Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (MPD '14), he is currently a product manager at Maven Machines, a Pittsburgh-based SaaS startup. Prior to Maven, Philip worked as a product manager at Aurora (previously Uber ATG), where he defined and built novel self-driving vehicle behaviors to satisfy operating needs for ride-hailing and long-haul trucking applications. He began his career spending five years in the New York City area honing his product skills in emerging technologies and innovation at NBCUniversal, Verizon, and a startup design consultancy. Philip is passionate about guiding and inspiring a new generation of innovators and has been professionally responsible for running Verizon’s corporate-university innovation partnerships. As an adjunct faculty member at the Hynes Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Iona College, he taught graduate-level courses in Innovation and Design Thinking and was involved in the Iona Innovation Challenge, a student startup competition. Outside of work and academia, Philip is an avid runner, a Pittsburgh evangelist, and a father to young boys.
