Biography

Philip Morgan is a Professor of Optometry and the Head of the Optometry Division at the University of Manchester, where he also serves as the Director of Eurolens Research. He has held the position of Adjunct Professor at UNSW Sydney. His main research focuses on clinical performance related to contact lenses, including clinical study design and the investigation of contact lens associated keratitis and discomfort. Philip has been actively involved in the field since 1996, managing an international survey related to contact lens prescribing trends. He is recognized as a leading figure in his field, having authored over 200 publications and delivered presentations in more than 30 countries. His professional affiliations include being the President of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators and the Immediate Past President of the International Society for Contact Lens Research. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the British Contact Lens Association, as well as a member of the UK College of Optometrists. In addition to his research, Philip teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in contact lenses and has contributed significantly to innovative teaching methods. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the BCLA Medallist in 2014 and the Max Schapero Award in 2019.
