Dr. Philip Nichols

Biography

Philip M. Nichols is the Joseph Kolodny Professor of Social Responsibility in Business and a Professor of Legal Studies and Business Ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his AB from Harvard University, and his JD and LLM in international law from Duke University. Before joining the Wharton faculty, he practiced international law at firms in Boston and Washington. His research focuses on corruption, emerging economies, and international trade, having conducted fieldwork in over thirty countries. Nichols has been involved with the United Nations' expert committee on trade facilitation and has served as Co-Chair of both the UNCITRAL interest group on Economic Law and the interest group on Corruption of the American Society of International Law. He has been recognized with seventeen teaching awards at the University of Pennsylvania, including the Hauck Award and the Lindback Award for his excellence in teaching. He also serves as the Faculty Director of Stouffer College House.
