Philip Walsh is a Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). With 40 years of experience in the North American and European mining and energy industries, he has a background as a petroleum geologist and geophysicist. His early career included managing geological operations for a major natural gas utility. He later founded a consultancy providing economic, technical, and strategic management services to large energy companies, start-ups, governmental agencies, and municipalities. Dr. Walsh is a registered professional geoscientist in Ontario and holds a BSc in Geological Sciences from Queen’s University Kingston, an MBA from Ivey Business School, Western University, and a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Bradford in the UK. He has previously served as a Lecturer in Corporate Strategy and MBA Programme Director at the University of Surrey before joining TMU in 2007. His teaching and research cover strategy, sustainability, and innovation, and he frequently contributes to TMU’s Executive Education program. Dr. Walsh is also involved in supervising research and teaching in TMU’s Environmental Applied Science Management graduate program and coordinates the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certificate program through the Chang School of Continuing Education. He has co-authored books on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development, and holds affiliations with several professional associations such as the Association of Geoscientists Ontario and the International Association for Energy Economics.
