Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Philipp Mayer. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Philipp Mayer is a professor of Applied Environmental Chemistry at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His previous roles include professorship at the National Environmental Research Institute (Aarhus University, DK) and as a study director at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO, NL). He received his M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Denmark and completed his doctoral degree in 2000 at the Research Institute of Toxicology, Utrecht University (NL). Prof. Mayer’s research focuses on the fate and exposure effects of organic contaminants in the environment, with particular attention to enhancing experiments using novel analytical methods. He pioneered 'equilibrium sampling methods' for measuring freely dissolved concentrations of hydrophobic organic chemicals in sediments and developed 'passive dosing' as a new experimental analytical platform for environmental toxicity research. His current work investigates the biodegradation kinetics of chemicals and the effects of mixtures at low environmentally relevant concentrations. He has supervised more than 40 environmental toxicity studies and served as convenor for the ISO working group on 'toxicity to aquatic plants'. With over 250 publications in international refereed scientific journals, his expertise aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
This requirement applies generally across Technical University of Denmark (DTU) MSc programs including Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, and Engineering disciplines. Specific prerequisites vary by department/curriculum.
