Biography

Philippa Chandler is a Research Fellow at Monash University, working with Jane Wilkinson on the ARC Discovery project titled 'Invisible Labour: Principals’ Emotional Labour.' She has been affiliated with Monash University since 2014, having moved from the University of Melbourne's Melbourne School of Design and the School of Geography. Her research interests encompass emotional labour, workplace emotions, place attachment, and community expressions in relation to environmental philosophy. Philippa's PhD dissertation focused on camping and caravan culture in the Ningaloo Reef region of Western Australia. In addition to her academic role, she freelances in arts and culture journalism. Her work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically in educational leadership policy. She was recognized for her research innovation with the Education/Academic qualification in Human Geography, awarded a PhD from Curtin University on February 2, 2020. Philippa holds an honorary research position at the University of Melbourne as of December 2022.
