Biography

Philippe Michel's main research interests lie in analytic number theory, employing a range of techniques and methods including arithmetic geometry, exponential sums, sieve methods, automorphic forms, associated representations, L-functions, and ergodic theory. He completed his PhD at Université Paris XI in 1995 under the guidance of E. Fouvry. After serving as a maître de conférence at Université Paris XI from 1995 to 1998, he became a full professor at Université Montpellier II. In 2008, he joined EPFL. Among his accolades, Michel has been awarded the Peccot-Vimont prize and is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He was also an invited speaker at the 2006 International Congress of Mathematicians.
