Biography

Philippe Poullaouec-Gonidec is a world-renowned landscape architect and urban design specialist. He co-founded the Chair in Landscape and Environment at the University of Montreal and served as its holder from 1996 to 2017. His work contributed significantly to the development of a new cultural research area in landscape that emphasizes transdisciplinary approaches and strong partnerships with key Quebec environmental and planning stakeholders. He was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Canada in 2017 and appointed Professor Emeritus at the University of Montreal in 2020. He has been instrumental in creating international cooperation and education platforms under the UNESCO Chair in Landscape and Environmental Design that involve multidisciplinary workshops focused on urban design strategies in various cities globally.
