Biography

Philippe Schyns is a Professor in the Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging at the University of Glasgow. He obtained his degree in Psychology from the University of Liege, Belgium, in 1986, and later earned a degree in Computer Science from Louvain, Belgium, in 1988. Schyns completed his Ph.D. in Cognitive Science at Brown University, USA, in 1992. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and has served as an Action Editor for Psychological Science, alongside his role as an Editor for Frontiers in Perception Science. His research focuses on information processing mechanisms involved in face, object, and scene categorization in the brain. Throughout his career, he has been awarded multiple grants from prestigious organizations including the Medical Research Council and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. His recent projects include investigating brain algorithmics and the cognitive processes behind visual commonsense scene understanding.
