Biography

Phillip Bernstein is a Professor of Practice at Yale University's School of Architecture, where he teaches courses focused on professional practice, project delivery, and technology. He has had a prominent career in architecture, previously serving as Vice President at Autodesk, where he was responsible for guiding the company’s vision and strategy for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors. He is also an influential author, writing extensively on the intersections of architectural practice and technology. His published works include 'Architecture | Design | Data – Practice Competency Era Computation' (Birkhauser, 2018) and 'Machine Learning: Architectural Futures Era Artificial Intelligence' (RIBA, 2022). Bernstein has been recognized as one of the “30 Admired Educators in Architecture” by DesignIntelligence and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture from Yale University and is licensed to practice in California.
